Set Overview

The Set With No Obvious Headliner

Gem Pack Vol. 6 is the sixth release in the Simplified Chinese exclusive Gem Pack series, arriving in mainland China on 7 August 2026 under the set code CBB6C. At 196 cards across 28 Pokémon, 18 packs per box and four holographic cards per pack, it inherits Vol. 4's architecture untouched for a third consecutive volume. What separates it is the roster. There is no Eevee line, no Gengar, no Horizons crew, no zodiac tie-in - and the card pool is drawn from Twilight Masquerade, Shrouded Fable, Stellar Crown, Surging Sparks and Destined Rivals rather than from a single source set.

That roster reads as grouped rather than assembled. Applin, Flapple, Appletun and Dipplin take four of the twenty-eight species slots, covering every branch of a single evolutionary family. The back of the numbering runs five straight Kitakami Pokémon, closing with Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti as a complete and consecutive Loyal Three. No earlier volume has given this much of its roster to one line, and none has ordered itself this deliberately.

What Changed

The Foils Move for the First Time

Every Pokémon in a Gem Pack set receives seven cards, and those seven are a ladder of foil treatments rather than seven separate artworks - Energy Holo, Poké Ball Holo, Glitter Foil, Prismatic Foil, Master Ball Holo and Gem Pack Stamped, with the 07 position sitting at the top of each line as the premium card. That ladder is what produces the set's 56 / 56 / 28 / 28 / 28 composition. Vol. 6 keeps every one of those names. What it does not keep is the treatment behind two of them.

The Glitter Foil at 03 and the Prismatic Foil at 04 are printed with a different foil design to every volume before them. The Poké Ball Holo and the Gem Pack Stamped are untouched. It's a quiet change, and the naming is why it stays quiet - every published breakdown of Vol. 6 lists the same six foils the series has used since January 2025, and every one of them is correct. The tiers didn't move, so nothing in the written record tells a collector to look closer.

Standout Artwork

Jiro Sasumo's Applin

The set carries a single Simplified Chinese exclusive: Applin at 1907/07, the Triple Rare closing the species line shown above, illustrated by Jiro Sasumo. Sasumo came to Pokémon TCG illustration through the second Pokémon Card Game Illustration Grand Prix, and the card is characteristic of that route - a small subject, a warm palette, and no attempt to make a tiny Grass Pokémon look imposing. Placing the exclusive on the Triple Rare of the set's mascot species is the same decision Vol. 4 made with the Ponyta AR by MINAMINAMI Take.

Vol. 5 went the other way, splitting four exclusives across four Horizons pairings and four illustrators. That produced more exclusive cards but no single card that defined the set. Vol. 6 returns to one, and the concentration works in its favour. It doesn't weaken the rest of the premium tier either: all 28 of the 07 slots are full art illustrations, with no Energies and no Trainers diluting them, so every triple-star pull is a genuine payoff card for a third volume running.

What Collectors Should Know

Where Vol. 6 Sits in the Series

Vol. 1 introduced the format. Vol. 2 experimented with V/VMAX and an overcrowded rarity structure at 15 packs per box. Vol. 3 expanded to 18 packs and refined the aesthetic but left the top tier diluted. Vol. 4 fixed those problems and produced the cleanest set in the series. Vol. 5 used that stable format to deliver a narrative bookend. Vol. 6 is the third volume on the same chassis, which means the structural argument the series was having with itself is settled, and what varies now is roster, exclusives and finish.

For a collector chasing recognisable names, this will be the least immediately appealing volume since Vol. 2. For anyone collecting the format itself - the ladder, the stamp, the full art tier - it is the most coherent roster the series has assembled, and the first volume to change how those cards are actually printed. Vol. 4 was the set where the format clicked into place. Vol. 6 is the first one confident enough not to lean on a famous Pokémon.
